| Sunday,
24 June 1999, Ogle County Fairgrounds -- We hope you came
by to say hello to Larry Dunphy, Proprietor Manager of Books
on First as he introduced participants of The Fields Project
to books which we hope will help extend the enjoyment and
experience of a worthwhile project showcasing the art and
literature inspired by agriculture, the prairie, and the river
in this local area. |
Some
of the popular titles of that day included Hamlin Garland's
Son of the Middle Border (as well as Daughter of the Middle
Border, now in limited availability), Crop Art, The North
Western (Railroad), Public Sculpture (featuring some of the
work of prominent Eagle's Nest artist Laredo Taft), The River
Reader and The Portable Margaret Fuller (also known among
the Eagle's Nest artists & writers). |
If
you did not get a chance to see these books at The Fields Project,
we invite you to come to Books on First where you can browse
among over 4,000 titles and we can order over 60,000 still-in-print
titles for you. We feature Illinois-interest books, including
history, poetry, biographies and local authors. |
